Tom Miller has been a Head Coach within the Kensington Valley Hockey Association for the last 7 years and served as Vice President of the Association from 2002-2007. Tom believes that Skating, Passing and Shooting are the keys to developing a successful hockey player. Based on this principle, he founded Skate Pass Shoot Skill Development Clinics and his team of highly qualified instructors have conducted hundreds of clinics for KVHA teams since 2003 (Mini-Mite through High School Divisions).
Coaching Philosophy:
Tom's coaching philosophy is consistent with the cooperative coaching style as defined by USA hockey. He provides leadership and allows players to have input into their preferred playing position and make them feel that their input is important to the success of the team. His instruction centers on the SPS (Skate, Pass, Shoot) system. He focuses on developing these fundamental skills during practice and games. He also works on developing leadership skills, an in-depth understanding of playing position and learning key rules of the game. He uses positive reinforcement for various team and individual accomplishments.
